The kitchen is the center of every family's life and every day living. Kitchen lighting and kitchen light fixtures are therefore very important both because of function and atmosphere, becasue of that it requires planning in detail. Bad lighting may destroy both the atmosphere and functionality of even the best planned kitchen. For this purpose the light fixtures and not only the licghts themsleves need to be of high quality and design.

Flourescent Light

Invisible light is produced by letting and electrical current pass through mercury vapor in a glass tube or bulb. This invisible light reacts with a coating on the inner side of the glass tube in order to create visible light referred to as fluorescent light. Fluorescent lights are commonly recognized as the second most energy efficient light after LED (Light Emitting Diodes). Fluorescent lights are also recognized as "white" lights as opposed to ordinary glowing lights whick are more yellow.

Fluorescent kitchen lighting is the number one choice for applications such as under-counter lights, hobby workshops, play areas and many more. Its low energy consumption also helps lowering your monthly energy bill.

Fluorescent Kitchen Light Fixtures

Kitchen light fixtures for fluorescent lights may be as varied as your own personal taste. An ever growing group of manufacturers are producing kitchen light fixtures so that they are compatible with more energy efficient lighting. There are many designs of fluorescent kitchen light fixtures with small round under cabinet fixtures being the most common. But there is also pendant fixtures and the most common in public buildings, the fluorescent tube light fixture. Other kitchen light fixtures include ceiling lights, track lighting, pot racks and recessed lighting. When you are about to purchase your new light fixture you should make sure to check the for scrtaches, parts that are rusted or cracks in the fixture. The key here is to find durable products that will enhance your kitchen atmosphere for years to come

Faulty Fluorescent Kitchen Lights - What to Do

If a fluorescent light isn't working it is probably because of a faulty fixture or where the starter is to old. Before you start repairs you should look at the fluorescent light tube ends to see if they are slightly darkened. If they are it is time to replace them with new ones. As always with light fictures you should make sure to unplug the fuse to that particular lighting fixture before you start fiddling around with it.

Fluorescent Accent Lighting

Using fluorescent light as accent lighting adds a nice touch of  drama to any kitchen by creating areas of visual interest. As a way of adding to the decorating scheme, accent lighting should be used to highlight house plants, sculptures and paintings.

This was my final tip for using fluorescent light fixtures in your kitchen but as you understand you can easily adapt them to any room in a house.
